It became the residence of an important family in what was one of the noblest districts of Funchal in the late 19th century. The Quinta remained the residence of the vice-governor of Madeira until early 20th century. The manor house and its extensive gardens have been carefully restored to create a paradise right in the heart of this lovely old district. Although the original building has been added to, the architectural splendour can still be appreciated.
